Classical music has come to be known as a term for a genre of music that encompasses many styles over the last hundred of years. Western classical music is art music rooted in the traditions of Western music, and composed in Europe during the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern time designations.
Classic corresponds to pop; because Classical music “lasts for a long time” and transcends over cultures and generations, it is generally described as “Classical”. In Western classical music, a composer prescribes to a performer the pitch, speed, meter, individual rhythms, and exact execution of a piece of music.
Yet for us, the definition of Classical embodying “olden days + classic” seems more relevant to our type of Classical music.
