Traditional music, also known as Chinese traditional music, national music, Chinese orchestra music, is music with its origins from Chinese traditional music. In the thousands of years of Chinese history and to the present day, vast cultural/folk music is created; these artistic music center around the notion of balance, simplicity, moderation, reservation, and etherealism, and are mostly pentatonic, which is very different from the three-dimensional form commonly found in Western traditional music. In recent years, the rise of ethnic style music performed through Chinese orchestra and small ensembles is becoming more prevailing.
